Testimonials for Dr. Susan E. Kolb

Thank you, Dr. Gordon for my amazing experience. I am so glad to have found such a skilled and passionate physician. Not once did I feel pressured into having any facial work that wasn’t necessary or that I wasn’t ready for. You were reassuring and put me completely at ease. I had total trust in you.

Most importantly, I am delighted with the results. The work performed has boosted my confidence enormously and I am no longer self-conscious about how I look.

I have no hesitation in recommending you to friends and colleagues. I will gladly let them know that you have a fine eye for detail and that you are a very skilled with a cool, calming approach.

Again, thank you for four pleasant manner and your skills and competence.

-E.J.

I had a breast reduction at age 16, and now at age 44, I would like to say Thank You. To this day, I am very happy with my outcome and had recommended the surgery to many.
-Stephanie T. (Received July 2011)

Dr. Kolb is certainly the brightest light in the southeast as far as silicone disease goes and I urge you to try to get to see her.  As I mentioned in the foreword to her remarkable book, over the years I sent her more patients than the rest of the surgeons I referred patients to, and possibly more than the others put together.

Best wishes.  D. Radford Shanklin, M.D., FRSM

I had my silicone breast implants for 20 years with no problems. Then in the last year I underwent a mammogram and I believe this finally ruptured them as I noticed a definite indentation in one breast soon afterwards. I started experiencing odd health symptoms and became very unwell rapidly over a period of six months. I wanted to find a plastic surgeon who would do a proper job of removal using the en bloc method and I wanted to find someone who believed that silicone, especially free silicone from ruptured implants, is a serious problem. I could not find this locally in New Zealand and so took the big step of deciding to go to the US for the procedure. I contacted Susan Kolb amongst a few others. I was amazed when she emailed me back straight away with obvious concern, answered all my questions personally and made a plan to fit me in as soon as I could get to Atlanta. It is a massive trip from Auckland to Atlanta but I knew instinctively that it was the right move to regain my health.

I cannot recommend Susan Kolb highly enough. She spent a great deal of time with me, explaining everything. It was fantastic to finally speak to a member of the medical profession who is prepared to speak openly and rationally about the health issues implants can cause and who has the patient case experience to back it up.

The surgery itself was a long one and she meticulously removed my elderly implants within their capsules as well as the silicone that had escaped. Over the next couple of days I was feeling a bit shaky and she was on call to answer the phone even in the middle of the night. That happened a couple of times! She even came into her surgery on a Sunday to meet up with me and we ended up having a long talk. I followed a tailored version of her detox protocol for 6 to 12 months. My symptoms (tremor, intense muscle twitching, numbness, altered sensation, severe burning skin sensations, trigeminal neuralgia and headaches) dissipated about 3 months after the surgery. Today 20 months later I have regained my health and am back to my normal life.

I fully credit Susan Kolb with my recovery and I am glad I trusted so totally in my instincts as I knew I had to go – its one of the strongest intuitions I have ever had.

I should mention that the aesthetic results are also great. I felt so unwell at the time so that was not really a top priority. But I did have a lift. Today my breasts look amazingly good and the scars, which are only around the areolas, are faded and hard to see.

Susan is surely one of the most competent surgeons in the world when it comes to the proper and thorough removal of breast implants (and I don’t believe there are many that stand alongside her). I would recommend her unreservedly.

Dear Dr Kolb,

Hopefully you remember me and my dad from earlier this month. My dad Mike talked to you about Multiple Myeloma. You performed an explant on me on March 4th 2010. I have been experiencing miracles! I have had almost no pain since surgery, very minimal bleeding and my chest looks the same or better than it did before I had saline implants put in April of 2005. The most amazing part is the spiritual understandings that are coming to me through everything around me. When I met you on March 2nd it was like I already knew everything that was going to happen there at Plastikos. Everything seemed so familiar and peaceful. I went into surgery with a smile on my face because I somehow knew that this was a new beginning for me. I finished your book last night. I was in tears because it was like everything you were saying was a powerful truth that resonated with my spirit. The physical suffering I experienced over the last 3 years had to happen so that I (like you) would be able to understand others around me. Which leads me to ask you if you have any ideas about who I need to seek for endocrine system support. I think my adrenals, ovaries, and thyroid could use some support. If you recall when I came to you I was in PMOF and both my thyroid and adrenals were struggling. I experience cold hands and feet, brain fog, moodiness, no menses, insomnia etc. I realize it may take some time for detoxification but I feel as though I should be on something bio-identical interminently. I have gotten a lot better at listening to my inner guidance but I am still a rookie. Do you have any insight on who I am supposed to seek for this knowledge? I am still on your biotoxin and silicone protocol. I hope to get back to Atlanta this summer to see you again. I pray for you everyday that you will continue as an amazing spiritual warrior and a gracious wounded healer. The words thank you could never cover what you have done for me.

Laura (Oklahoma City)

Dr. Kolb,

I can not tell you how much I appreciate you. I know you save my life!  I was dying a slow and miserable death and the best decision I ever made in my life was having you explant me!  I think I look amazing.  The work you did was miraculous.  Everyone who has had a conversation with me since my surgery says I am so different.  They can’t explain it but I am so much more present and clear thinking than I have been in years!  The week I got back home, I called my Dad and we talked for about an hour, at the end of our conversation he started to cry and he told me he knew I was back and that he hadn’t heard me sound like that in years. I just appreciate your work beyond words and on behalf of my family, my kids and my husband, thank you for saving my life.

Angie, February 2010

“I just wanted to say that Dr. Kolb was a very nice, and very intelligent surgeon. She bent over backwards to fit Sandra into her schedule and has also worked late hours just to accommodate us. Her staff was very professional, and I felt as though we were given ‘VIP service.’ I am thankful that we were able to find a doctor, like Dr. Kolb, that could help us in our time of need. Dr. Kolb is my wife’s guardian angel!”

Ruben M.

“Dr. Kolb is excellent for getting insurance to pay for explant. She knows the ropes. Others may not, it all depends on how willing they are to put forth the effort for insurance coverage.”

Patty

“I just received my first bodywork session (not counting acupuncture and craniosacral) since my surgery. Nancy and I are both Trager Practitioners and have done trades for many years. The Trager Approach (in case you’re not familiar) is very gentle, rhythmical...fluid, nonintrusive, range-of-motion, rocking kind of movements to reeducate the body/mind to surrender and remember the feeling of Wholeness, Peace, Freedom. I wanted to share with you Nancy’s comment as she worked on me.

She said that my tissue feels totally different now...more available...like there was always some kind of bracing (probably from the toxicity of the silicone) before. I, too, can feel how everything is different. Not only when she was working on me... but also when I give a session. Somehow I have let go to a vaster, easier, less efforting place. Like I’m enjoying and feeling more deeply present moment by moment. I feel I’m abiding more fully in the Presence now.

Thank you for how you’ve helped me. Also, Mark said (when he gave me craniosacral work) that you were obviously very gentle and conscious as you worked on me as he didn’t feel that I’d been traumatized like people normally feel after surgery!!!”

Carolyn

“Going to Dr. Kolb was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have been to see her 10 times since 1994. Dr. Kolb saved my life, more than one time....I went to 54 doctors who all refused to treat me, stating that I was having a mid life crisis, my implants were not causing a problem and most recommended psycho therapy. When I got to Dr. Kolb, I had spent 3 years in bed unable to function, all my organs had shut down and I was dying. She changed my life, saved my life and has become a very good friend as she is the kindest, most brilliant woman I have ever met. She has devoted her life to research on both Silicone and Saline Implants. She has fought hard to educate the public. The greatest thing is the feeling of peace once you sit down and talk to her...as she has been through all of the illness from the implants herself, therefore she is very knowledgeable and compassionate.”

Janice R.

“I thank the Lord for you! I am doing very well! Two years ago I could not have imagined that my energy and vitality could ever return. Not only has my physical energy been restored, the mental fog I lived in for so long is absent also."

Suzanne N

“Dr. Kolb is a great doc, we trust her. We have found that the most reliable way to get better is to go on a really good detox program. I am sure Dr. Kolb can help you with this.”

Linda

“You’re in the best hands with Dr. Kolb!”

Deb

“I have been a patient of Dr. Kolb’s since 1996. I sought Dr. Kolb’s assistance when I needed corrective surgery. I immediately felt that Dr. Kolb had an interest in me as a toal person and not just as a surgical patient. Dr. Kolb reviewed my alternatives and was available to address my concerns. Dr. Kolb has a surgery center attached to her office that meets the same safety criteria [JCAHO] as a hospital. She even called me at home the evening of my surgery, this made me fell well taken care of. I have 15 years experience as an Operating Room Nurse and I found Dr. Kolb to be the exception rather that the rule.”

Patty R.

“I have heard so many many women speak of your bedside manner and how you take the time to listen to all your patients and treat them with respect. Many of us are not used to that treatment, that is why most of us are so sick and cannot get the proper medical treatment needed for implant rejection. Thank you for helping and believing in me that I am sick from implants. If I can get out of this agony and get me health back on track, I promise to repay your kindness. You’re One in a Million!”

Sandy

“She is not only a very skilled and knowledgeable doctor, but a true healer. When I became aware of what had been making me so ill for so many years I searched for the best doctor to partner with in my fight for health and recovery. I was led to Dr. Kolb. From the minute I met her I knew my experience would be extraordinary...and it was. I have long been skeptical of doctors and trusting anyone to know what is best for me. (Haven’t we all been fed a line with these implants in the first place? And then how long have we been running around trying to find anyone who has a clue as to why we are sick!?!) In my experience and opinion she walks with God and uses her skills as an extension of His healing hands for women with this complication and disease. She is so much more than a doctor! She is amazing!”

Deb in Korea

“I am excited for you. Dr. Kolb knows her stuff...she will tell you more than I can about it all and I know you will be in good hands.”

Patty

“I just wanted to send you a note and let you know that I am feeling like my old self again. My sensations have almost completely disappeared. I can not thank you enough for helping to make me well. You are truly a dedicated doctor and I will always highly recommend you for any type of plastic surgery or to women that are having problems with their implants. You have given me my quality of life back. Have a wonderful summer and again my sincere thanks.”

Cindy

“Dr. Kolb in Atlanta, Georgia has a great detox program. She also does heavy metal testing to find out which ones you need to detox for. ...She also has some great articles you can read. When you look at her silicone protocol, it is very overwhelming. I don’t know your financial situation. But if you can, you could go to her for a consult and she will fine tune the protocol for you.”

Brenda

“If you could travel anywhere for surgery, where would you go?

That is a really tough question to answer. You will get so many different opinions about all of the doctors. I personally flew to Atlanta for a consult with Dr. Kolb after my explant. I was on her silicone protocol for one year. I know that it helped me get better after I became sick.”

Brenda

“I had the good fortune of finding Dr. Susan Kolb for treatment of my Morgellon’s Disease. Dr. Kolb is a kind and caring practitioner. She is one of Atlanta’s leading plastic surgeons and she is also knowledgeable in general medicine and holistic medicine. Dr. Kolb keeps abreast of innovative methods to treat new and upcoming diseases such as Morgellon’s. She recognizes that spiritual health is an integral part of a patient’s healing and incorporates this into her care.

When I recently saw Dr. Kolb for Morgellon’s, I was treated with utmost respect and dignity. She was very kind and compassionate and did not discount any of my unusual and bizarre symptoms. She has witnessed these in other patients. She discussed with me her findings and ideas about his disease and incorporated my input into the treatment plan she designed for me. There has been little research done on Morgellon’s. Dr. Kolb has done skin biopsies on patients with Morgellon’s beginning in early 2006. Her treatment plan is based on her own research and findings and is thus more innovative. In subsequent visits, Dr. Kolb has treated me equally as well and has suggested treatment modalities that demonstrate her continued and persistent research. She emails me with article she has read and extends to all her patients the privilege of emailing her with any questions or ideas. Her replies to my have always been prompt. Words cannot describe the gratitude I feel in finding Dr. Kolb and to her, specifically, for her knowledge and genuine kindness and respect.”

Janet F.

“...If a doctor tells you that you will be depressed or deformed without implants, he/she is describing their OWN skills...RUN! Remember a doctor is working FOR you. You have every right to expect the job to be done the way you want it done...as long as it’s good medical practice...And en bloc is! I would not pay a consulting fee to a surgeon to discuss explant!

Frankly, we have only three surgeons we recommend without hesitation because they will do the job right without being told what to do... Drs. Huang (Denver), Kolb (Atlanta), and Feng (Cleveland)...Undoubtedly other doctors could do the job right, if they wanted to!

The ‘standard’ way of removing implants is to make an incision, pop the implant out, and sew the woman up...Leaving the capsule behind (actually a toxic chemical factory)...and telling the woman that her implants aren’t making her sick, and that removing them won’t make her well. Then leave the capsules behind to prove his point.

Before telling a doctor what YOU want, ask him/her to describe the procedure he/she uses. If they tell you the surgery will take about an hour, that’s a bad sign. Dr. Kolb has spent as long as 10 hours on complicated cases.”

Rogene in Arizona

“I saw your interview on ‘The Today Show’ and was most impressed with your responses. You were very diplomatic in how you answered but it also conveyed that silicone is a very questionable material. There was the added impact that you yourself had to have silicone implants removed.

When you mentioned all the symptoms that go along with having silicone in the body, it reminded me of all those exact same things I suffered. Thanks to you - I no longer have to feel bad. You removed my implants (saline and the silicone that had been left by previous doctors.

I thank you so very much for the stance you take on silicone. I appreciate that you give women a choice. But most of all I appreciate that you gave me my health.

All I can say is - I give my heart-felt thanks to you.”

Linda S., North Carolina

“I had severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and needed to have a muscle flap performed. The minute I walked into her office, I knew she was a doctor who cared about her patients.

Dr. Kolb also had to redo surgical procedures that were performed by my previous Workers Comp doctors. These include cutting down scar tissue, redoing Carpal Tunnel releases. DeGuervein’s redone.
I have always thanked the Lord above for getting to me Dr. Kolb as it took some three to four months from the time I was referred until Workers Comp approved her.

When the insurance company would not pay for my procedures and visits, Dr. Kolb continued to treat me and to make sure I had everything I possibly needed to help with my continuing recovery.

Dr. Kolb fought for me 110% to make sure I was not thrown by the wayside by the insurance company.”

Patricia R.

“When I first met you in January, I was frustrate and exhausted, emotionally and physically, not knowing what to expect as you were yet another doctor in the long line of many. I was, however, hopeful as I felt the circumstances in which your name had been given to me was, in itself, extraordinary.

My first visit with you left me feeling so hopeful, like a weight had been lifted. You had such a positive, reassuring and calm sense as well as a special ‘something else’ about you, which I could not then identify.

On my day of surgery, I felt extremely calm, knowing I was in competent and caring hands. Having you at my bedside, laying on hands, when I woke up was a very calming and strengthening experience. Since then, I have come to know you as a meticulous surgeon, dedicated and intuitive physician and compassionate person.

I have come a long way since January. This illness has been my greatest life changing experience, which I now look upon positively. Healing physically and emotionally, awakening spiritually -- it’s through and because of you that my healing and spiritual growth will continue.

You have successfully created a place with a truly healing atmosphere, reflected by your staff who are always so understanding, helpful and respectful. May you continue to be given the strength and passion to pour into the vision that you have shared with me.

The reason I write this letter is because I want you to know, from my heart, how appreciative and grateful I am for the way you have treated me as a patient -- the many hours spent carefully and intuitively diagnosing and healing, your friendship AND your mentorship.

With my sincere thanks for all that you have done, and continue to do for me. Take care of yourself.”

Sheila

“We are so grateful to you and your dedicated staff of medical professionals and employees. We extend our sincere appreciation to each and every one of you for taking excellent care of me while going through one of the most difficult times of my life and helping me and my family finally put an end to the medical nightmare that we have lived with for so many years.

My new breasts are beautiful because of your artistic abilities and the precise perfection you extend to all your patients. I was so afraid of what I would look like after my silicone implants were removed. I had many nightmares about how deformed I would look after my surgery. I was so afraid to look, after the bandages were removed for the first time. Joe and I had resigned ourselves to the fact that I would possibly have no breasts or even that I would live with a severe deformity from now on. I‘ll never forget the first time I ‘took a peek,’ I couldn’t believe how natural I looked! Not once have I shed a tear over ‘losing’ anything, but I have cried tears of pure joy many times when I see my reflection in the mirror.

God answered my prayers when he sent me to see Dr. Lee, thereby being introduced to you. I don’t know how you keep your hectic schedule and fast pace, it must be sheer determination, dedication and loyalty to your chosen profession. I’m sure there are mornings you would love to pull the covers over your head and sleep late; take a day off or just simply do nothing. I’m sure there are days you must wonder if anyone even appreciates the sacrifices you make day after day.

Even if no one else takes the time to say ‘Thank You’ to you today, please know that I speak for many people when I say ‘I thank you and appreciate you.’ So, one morning when you are struggling to get out of bed after a night of on-call emergencies and no sleep, having to face a morning of surgical procedures and a long afternoon of seeing patients; knowing you only have to get up the next day and do it all over again, please know that you are a blessing to so many people who appreciate all your hard work, dedication, sacrifices and just being the wonderful person you are.

May your angels continue to be with you as you complete your mission in life and remember to slow down every now and then, take some time for yourself and stop and ‘smell the roses.’”

"DR. SUSAN KOLB IS A BLESSING

I had been suffering over the last six months with toxicity (i.e. headaches/daily flu-like symptoms, foggy/cloudy head, pain in kidneys, numbness of left side and painful burning in chest, ect) as well as a compromised immune system. I went to the emergency room a couple of times trying to get help/treatment but was sent home for an overworked chest muscle(?). Finally, in desperation I began searching for some kind of answer on the web and found Dr. Susan Kolb on this website. She has been a God-send. The emails started between us on Dec. 24th (yes, X-Mas eve). She promptly answered all my questions, agreed to talk with my family physician to get me the antibiotics/fungal medications to relieve my pain while I looked into a surgeon, in my area to remove them en-bloc. She was not only helpful but a very caring, nurturing human being who reached out with heart-felt concern when it seemed there was no one else who would even listen or care to help me. She was there for me every step of the way even when she was visiting her Mother on Christmas day and she wasn't even my surgeon yet! However, in the end, I did end up flying half way across the U.S. and had her perform my explantation. I ended up spending more money because of these added costs but feel certain and confident that I made the best decision and had the best possible surgeon for this operation. She is also truly an artist and very meticulous when reshaping and stitching the breasts as well. 2 weeks post op it looks like I will have no noticeable scarring from a perfect breast lift and smaller, wonderfully symmetrical, real breasts.

Dr. Kolb has been a pure light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel and I would definitely recommend her to any woman out there who is considering explantation. Especially, any one experiencing biotoxin symptoms as she is an expert in this area."

Maryann

Hi Dr. Kolb,

I haven't been in lately because I'm doing GREAT!!  I've been on all the supplements you've required me to take and have been rapidly improving and I can't thank you enough.

When I first came to see you we both know that I was in bad shape and the last thing I wanted to do was take my implants completely out.   I appreciate all of your support, listening to me health concerns and intuitively guiding me in the right direction.  I now know that taking my implants out was not only physically necessary, but also mentally and spiritually.  Since my explant surgery, I've been improving steadily health wise and are at peace with my body and more in tune with my guidance.  I've been able to detach more from the physical world and are more guided within which has opened the doors in so many ways and I owe a big part of that to you.

Thank you for not only being an outstanding doctor, but also a friend and mentor.  I wish and pray that we have more doctors like you.

Much love,
Dena
