Sclerotherapy is a cosmetic procedure that reduces surface vessels or spider veins, commonly on the face and legs. Sclerosing solution is injected directly into a vessel, causing it to slowly fade or disappear. This procedure is typically done with local or no anesthetic. Veins gradually fade, usually in 10 to 14 days and the final results will be apparent in 2 to 6 weeks. There may be some bruising and pain is usually minimal.
