Breast augmentation can: Increase fullness and projection of your breasts, Improve the balance of your figure, Enhance your self-image and self confidence, and Improve breast asymmetry. Also known as augmentation mammaplasty, the procedure involves using implants to create fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Implants also may be used to reconstruct a breast after mastectomy, injury or to help correct breast asymmetry. There are two primary types of breast implants: saline-filled and silicone-gel-filled implants. Saline implants have a silicone shell filled with sterile saline fluid. Silicone gel implants have a silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel. The placement of implants in most cases will be beneath the chest wall muscles to create the desired volume and contour.

Results: Your results are immediate. Your surgeon may ask you to bring a bra with you to surgery to wear postoperatively. Swelling should subside in 2 to 4 weeks. Incision lines will continue to flatten and fade for up to 1 year. Implants may need to be replaced. It’s important to know that breast implants are not designed to last a lifetime.
